Faqs
Have you actually tried cases in front of a jury?
Yes. More than 100, tried to verdict, across D.C., Minnesota, and Texas. That includes murders, federal cases, and serious felonies. Many lawyers have never tried that many cases in an entire career.
What happens on the first call?
You tell me what is going on. I listen and ask questions. Then I am honest with you about where things stand and what your options are. No runaround.
Do you handle both criminal and civil cases?
Yes. I am a trial attorney first. I handle criminal defense, personal injury, civil rights and employment, and business litigation. What stays the same across all of it is the preparation and the fight.
Are you just going to push me to take a plea or settle?
No. Some lawyers reach for the quick plea or the fast settlement because it is easier for them. I prepare every case to win, and I fight for the best possible outcome, whether that is a dismissal, a trial, or a plea negotiated from strength.
Will I be able to reach you?
Yes. You will not chase me down for updates. I pick up the phone and I respond. When your life is on the line, you deserve to know your attorney is on it.
How do you charge?
It depends on the matter. Personal injury is handled on contingency, which means there is no cost to you up front and I only get paid when you do. For other matters, call the office and we will talk it through.
Where are you licensed?
D.C., Minnesota, and Texas.
What if my case has to go to trial?
Then you want someone who has been there over 100 times. I am most at home in a courtroom, and I will not flinch when the stakes are high.
